The art work of Hegarty gives myself a new perspective on paintings and the frames that bound them together that gives art a transformation of an ordinary flat canvas and a bordered frame, to an image that literally pops out and tries remove the threads that hold its simple structure together. The artist has turned a non living object into something that seems living and breathing out of its original painting and frame. To me the idea is simple, removing what we as humans try to recreate or restrict and allow the art to release itself from those bonds we created. The images above show a ship on the left and its ocean water being torn apart from the canvas and creates a new image of the water appearing to be on the gallery floor as the ship tries to flow downward with the water. On the right is an image of a frame that has returned back into its original state.
